I don’t tend to watch repeats of films but I really loved this one so bought the DVD after watching it at a late night showing at the local cinema. I love the gymnastic abilities of the monster and it is has some very amusing scenes in there. It is really a film about people and the monster is just providing a backdrop for that. Anyway, what did YOU make of it??????
It is great isn’t it! I’ve got it playing now: the monster has just swum across the river with the girl.
Thank you Jon Buquor, I shall look out for the new movie.
Thank you Palmerpath, sodium-lights and mizza for your responses.

I too found the agility of the monster to be enormously entertaining. The characters were not what you normally get in American movies and the ending (what happens to the girl) is definitely unique. There’s a new Korean monster movie opening soon, call Dragon Wars. The trailer looks interesting too.

I picked up a copy of the DVD after reading some of the enthusiastic reviews, and was very pleased and impressed. The Host takes nearly all the standard giant monster movie cliches and stands them on their head, making for a refreshing, suspenseful and exciting film, with a most unlikely band of heroes–a loving and dysfunctional family, with no backup except that of a homeless wino—fantastic.
The monster itself is uniquely alien in design and action–it actually has logical behavior and its unexpected appearances and acrobatics make it a memorable foe.
Good stuff.
I normally love Korean films however I did not think much of this film when I saw it. To me the monster is too unbelievable.
Yes I loved it too. It’s not really my thing to be honest, but I was really impressed. It was funny, sad and exciting. I cried at the end.
